Rio de Janeiro is now digital—with a portal that puts everything residents need in one place.

PRODERJ, the state government’s central Information and Communication Technology (ICT) agency, is on a mission to modernize and digitize Rio de Janeiro by bringing services from multiple public agencies together online.

THE CHALLENGE

Extreme Digital Solutions was hired by PRODERJ to deliver a solution that would help Rio de Janeiro residents save time and make it easier to use government services.

The challenge was to deliver the Digital Portal project, designed to bring state services together in a single platform, so people could access them fully online.

THE SOLUTION

To make it easier for residents to access services that used to be spread across each agency’s systems and websites, the Professional Services teams used OpenShift technology and Red Hat’s integration environment to implement the portal.

THE RESULTS

More convenience for residents

The solution enabled more than 17 million people to access a wide range of services more easily. Now, in one place, residents can find information on vehicle taxes (IPVA) and school enrollment, check their driver’s license (CNH) status, register as a sole proprietor (MEI), file a complaint with Procon, or even schedule a first-time ID (RG).

With the Digital Portal, people in Rio de Janeiro can access more than 1,800 services in a single platform—for residents, government, public employees, businesses, public administration, and the press.

Better integration for government

Thanks to EDS’s work and Red Hat’s leading-edge technology, PRODERJ now has a portal that integrates with multiple state agencies, making it easier and faster to maintain the services provided.

Lower costs

Bringing the state’s services together in a single portal reduces costs for the Government of Rio de Janeiro, which previously relied on multiple separate portals and faced long delays to maintain those services.
